Kellie's First Mother's Day

Kellie got to have her first mother's day yesterday.  It started in bed in the morning with a few gifts.

Over 20 years ago I gave Kellie a statue  shortly after we were married.

Together

For those who have found their true partner in love and life

For Mother's Day I gave her an updated statue featuring Andrea!

Our Gift

Our bright, joyful gift!

“I remember when we brought our first-born home, and walked into our house. I had an overwhelming sense of fulfillment — it seemed like our whole house was warm and full of light. When you bring a new baby home, all of a sudden you understand the excitement of being a family — this, now, is your family. It’s the start of something wonderful and new, and that, in and of itself, is a joyful gift.”

Andrea's gift was next.  Luckly Kellie had to go buy some things Saturday giving Andrea and I a chance to prepare a baked clay photo frame featuring Andrea's hand and feet prints.

Sweet mushy cards were also given.

Then we got ready for Andrea's public debut at church.

She was so well behaved.  Slept through most of it.  Had a bottle and one loudish burp.  The primary children sang for their mother's and for the first time in 23 years it did'nt hurt to watch them.  Everyone was so happy for her and for us. Kellie got a bunt cake from the ward and for the first time ever, it didnt feel awkward or undeserved.  Adoption doesnt cure infertility, but it really helps.  Then Andrea went to Grandma and Grandpa's house for her first visit.  Later she visited with relatives in Oregon via Skype.

It was a beautiful Mother's Day.  I can't wait for Father's day!
